VTS Helps Build Beauty From Ashes

Even before the massive devastating earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, LaHatte, Haiti had nothing. Since the earthquake, this isolated community on the island nation is really struggling to survive.

VTS Homes is proud to continue its multi-year partnership with Food For The Poor, a highly-respected international relief organization. VTS Homes, along with gracious donations from the below local craftsmen and trade partners, are helping bring beauty from ashes to the families in LaHatte. For every home that we sell a donation is made to Food For The Poor to help build a home for a family in LaHatte. VTS Homes believes in being our brother's keeper, whether across the street or around the world. "It's exciting to be able to make a difference in the lives of these families," said VTS Homes president, Rob Owens.

2013 Update: VTS Homes has finished one village and is now in the planning stages for another village in LaHatte. To date, VTS Homes, along with our partners, have built one home in Haiti for every home we have built in Alabama since October 2010. Rob Owens, president of VTS Homes, will be in LaHatte in June to review progress and meet some of the families. You can also help by easily donating from our Champions for the Poor web page on the Food For The Poor website.

Food For The Poor, the third largest international relief and development organization in the nation, does much more than feed millions in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian agency provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skill training and micro-enterprise development assistance. Almost 97% of all donations go directly to helping the poor and needy. For more information, please visit www.FoodForThePoor.org
